Obverse description Bare-headed right-facing bust of King Karl (Charles I) of Württemberg, rendered with fine detail in the curly hair and full beard. The portrait is set within a toothed (beaded) border. The circular legend reads KARL KOENIG VON WURTTEMBERG, distributed around the upper and lower periphery. The mint mark F appears below the bust truncation at the bottom of the field.

Reverse description The Imperial German eagle, displayed with wings spread and head turned to the right, bearing a crowned shield on its breast and holding a sceptre and orb in its talons, all within a beaded border. The legend DEUTSCHES REICH arcs across the upper field. The date 1877 appears vertically to the right, while the denomination 5 MARK is inscribed along the lower portion. The abbreviation CU. (for Kupfer/Copper) appears to the lower left, and the word PROBE (pattern/trial) is inscribed to the right, flanked by star ornaments, confirming the coin's status as an official trial piece.
