Reverse description An elaborate allegorical composition depicting a crowned female figure — personifying Saxony — enthroned within an arched niche beneath spreading oak boughs, her arms outstretched in a gesture of benediction. Flanking her on either side are groups of figures representing the people of Saxony across the ages: a warrior with a shield, a mother with children, a craftsman, and an elder, all rendered in high relief with exceptional detail. In the lower centre, a laurel wreath cartouche bears the commemorative dates 1089 and 1889, marking the 800th anniversary of the House of Wettin. The entire design is framed by a beaded border.
