| Obverse description | Printed in purple-brown on a pale ground, the face is covered by an Art Nouveau-style repeating geometric and foliate underprint. The central vignette consists of a circular municipal seal inscribed 'SIEGEL DER STADT EMDEN', bearing the city arms topped by a crown. The denomination numeral '5' appears in large bold type at left and right, with 'Mark' beneath each, while the issuer legend 'Stadt Emden' is set at upper left and upper right; the central text reads 'Gutschein über Fünf Mark'. Two manuscript signatures appear at the lower margin, attributed to the Magistrat (left) and the Bürgervorsteher-Kollegium (right). |
