| Opmerkingen |
Genthin is a small town in the Magdeburg district of Saxony-Anhalt, and its 1921 notgeld issue belongs to the second wave of German municipal emergency currency — distinct from the wartime shortages that prompted the first wave, and instead driven by the chronic small-change famine that persisted well into the early Weimar years. Two Erfurt firms shared the production of this series: Alfred Hanf handled one component of the work, Offsetdruck Arthur Kirchner the other, a split-printing arrangement not uncommon when local printers lacked full-range capability.
The 96 × 72 mm format is slightly squarer than most notgeld of this denomination.
