Obverse description Green-tinted notgeld issued on a guilloche-patterned ground with decorative foliate vignettes in the upper-left and upper-right corners. A double-headed imperial eagle underprint occupies the centre, over which the denomination "Fünf Mark" is printed in large Gothic blackletter script. The issuing authority title appears at the top in Fraktur type, a serial number in red is positioned at the left, and the redemption text with date and magistrate's facsimile signatures appears in the lower half, with the printer's imprint at the foot.

Reverse description The reverse is divided into two principal fields on a green guilloche ground. The left panel carries the denomination in large Gothic blackletter script above an Art Nouveau decorative vignette of interlaced floral and foliage motifs with rosette flowers. The right panel contains a framed intaglio-style vignette of an armoured knight standing beside a horse and holding a lance, with a motto banner below set within a scrollwork cartouche.
