| Opis awersu | The obverse is set on a teal-green floral arabesque underprint covering the entire field, framed by a dashed rectangular border. To the upper left, the inscription "Kriegs-notgeld der Stadt Elberfeld" appears in Gothic blackletter script, while the denomination "Fünf Mark" is rendered in large decorative Fraktur lettering at centre. The lower left carries the municipal arms of Elberfeld as a dark inked heraldic shield vignette, accompanied by a three-line redemption clause in Roman type, the issue date "Elberfeld, den 25. Oktober 1918," and the facsimile signature of the Oberbürgermeister; serial numbers are printed in red at upper right and lower left. |
