Obverse description The national coat of arms of Azerbaijan occupies the right-center of the field, depicting an eight-pointed star encircling a flame motif, supported at the base by a wreath of oak and wheat branches. To the left, a large stylized crescent moon rendered in geometric Art Deco-inspired linear patterning fills the field. Two small eight-pointed star ornaments flank the lower border. The legend 'AZƏRBAYCAN RESPUBLİKASI' arcs along the upper periphery in Latin script, while the denomination '5 MANAT' is inscribed along the lower border.

Additional information

Azerbaijan hosted the 2015 European Games in Baku — the first edition of what was conceived as a continental equivalent to the Pan American Games — and the national mint program surrounding the event was extensive. Rhythmic gymnastics carried particular political weight for the host nation: Azerbaijan's women's team had dominated the discipline at World Championships through the early 2010s, making it a source of genuine national pride rather than a token sport inclusion.
