| Reverse description | The reverse presents a detailed landscape vignette depicting the mountainous terrain of the Kalbajar district, with dramatic rocky cliffs and a natural hot spring geyser rising in the left foreground. In the lower central field, the large numeral 8 is integrated into the design alongside the word NOYABR, referencing the date of liberation, and a specimen of Ophrys caucasica orchid is rendered among rocks at the base. The toponym KƏLBƏCƏR is inscribed along the upper arc within a decorative border, while the patriotic legend QARABAĞ AZƏRBAYCANDIR! curves along the lower periphery, all in Latin characters. The outer border features a repeating geometric ornamental pattern characteristic of Azerbaijani decorative art. |

Kalbajar — the district this coin commemorates — was occupied by Armenian forces in 1993 during the First Nagorno-Karabakh War and held for nearly three decades. Azerbaijan recaptured it in November 2020 during the Second Karabakh War, and this issue was struck the following year as part of a broader commemorative series marking the retaken territories. The Central Bank moved quickly; several district coins in the series appeared within months of the ceasefire.
