Aanvullende informatie

Azerbaijan's commemorative silver program has leaned heavily on national sports since the country began aggressively positioning itself as a host nation for international athletics — most visibly with the 2015 European Games held in Baku, the first edition of that competition ever staged. This coin was issued in direct connection with those Games, making it one of a coordinated series rather than a standalone release.

The European Games were awarded to Baku in 2012 amid considerable political controversy, with critics noting the selection process lacked the transparency of established Olympic Committee procedures.
