| Reverse description | The right-facing bust of Heydar Aliyev, former President of Azerbaijan, occupies the upper right of the field against a radiating sunburst background rendered in fine incised lines. To the left, a detailed depiction of an offshore oil platform rises from a stylised sea, evoking the Caspian oilfields central to the Contract of the Century. The facsimile signature of Heydar Aliyev appears in the lower centre field. The legend 'ƏSRİN MÜQAVİLƏSİ' arcs along the upper periphery, the anniversary designation '20 İL' appears at centre right, and the date range '1994-2014' is inscribed along the lower border. |

| Additional information |
The "Contract of the Century" refers to the 1994 Production Sharing Agreement between the Azerbaijan International Operating Company — a consortium of eleven oil majors including BP, Amoco, and Lukoil — and the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan. Signed in Baku on September 20, 1994, the deal opened Caspian offshore fields to Western capital for the first time since Soviet nationalization and is credited with anchoring Azerbaijan's post-independence economic trajectory.
This coin marks the twentieth anniversary of that signing.
