Reverse description The reverse depicts a commemorative medal suspended from a ribbon and clasp at centre, the medal face bearing a palm frond motif with the inscription PATRIA LIBERATA encircling it. The denomination Lm5 is inscribed in the upper field above the ribbon. The commemorative dates 1798 and 1998 flank the suspended medal at mid-field, marking the bicentenary of the Maltese uprising against French rule. A circular legend reading 200 SENA MILL-QAWMIEN KONTRA L-FRANĊIŻI runs along the left and right periphery. The mintmaster's initials NCB appear in small letters to the upper left of the ribbon.
