In the lower left field, a ship's wheel motif accompanies the three-line legend MALTESE MARITIME HISTORY; to the right, the ship's name MARIA DACOUTROS and her launch year 1902 are inscribed. The denomination Lm 5 appears in the lower centre of the field, with the engraver's initials NG visible in the lower right area near the waterline.
