备注

The 1986 Maltese 5 Liri belongs to the second Central Bank series, which replaced the earlier Maltese pound notes following the island's republican reorientation in the 1970s and the gradual Maltizing of public iconography. De La Rue had been printing Maltese currency since independence in 1964, and the relationship continued uninterrupted through multiple design generations.

The lira was pegged under a currency basket arrangement throughout this period — weighted toward sterling, the Deutsche Mark, and the US dollar — which gave Malta unusual exchange rate stability for a small island economy heavily dependent on tourism and re-export trade. The note circulated until the lira's eventual replacement by the euro on 1 January 2008.
