| Obverse description | The heraldic arms of Cardinal Eugenio Pacelli occupy the central field, featuring a quartered shield surmounted by a cardinal's galero with pendant tassels and flanked by the crossed keys of Saint Peter beneath the papal umbraculum (canopied baldachin). The shield's design reflects Pacelli's personal armorial bearings rendered in fine relief. The circular legend SEDE·VACANTE·MCMXXXIX arcs along the upper periphery, denoting the sede vacante period of 1939. A ribbon bearing the motto OPVS IVSTITIA PAX appears in the lower field, attributed to the engraver Aurelio Mistruzzi. |

| Reverse description | A dove with outstretched wings, symbolising the Holy Spirit, is depicted in high relief at the centre of the field, set against a radiant glory of diverging sunbeams that fill the inner field. The circular legend INFVNDE AMOREM CORDIBVS arcs along the upper rim, a Pentecostal invocation. In the lower portion of the field, a two-line inscription reads STATO·DELLA·CITTA / DEL·VATICANO, followed by the denomination L·5 in the exergue area, engraved by Aurelio Mistruzzi. |
