San Marino's pattern coinage of the 1930s occupied a peculiar administrative space — the republic contracted the Italian state mint in Rome to produce its circulation issues, and proof and prova strikes were generated as part of the approval process required before full production runs. These were never intended for commerce and survive almost exclusively in institutional and specialist collections.

The reference spread across three KM numbers suggests at least two distinct die or compositional variants were submitted for approval across the production window, a detail that remains incompletely resolved in the standard literature.
