正面描述 Intaglio portrait of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk in three-quarter right-facing view occupies the right half of the note, set against a red crescent and star underprint on a pale pink guilloche background. The large numeral "5" appears in intaglio at lower left, with the denomination "BEŞ TÜRK LİRASI" in bold red letterpress at centre, flanked by a rosette vignette in gold. A vertical security strip with holographic elements runs along the right margin, incorporating atomic and crescent motifs.

背面描述 The reverse centres on an intaglio portrait vignette of Ord. Prof. Dr. Aydın Sayılı (1913–1993), the eminent Turkish historian of science, positioned to the right. Surrounding vignettes illustrate his scholarly legacy: a schematic diagram of the solar system, an atomic model, a stylised ancient cave painting, and a left-handed Z-DNA double helix, all rendered in red-brown tones against a fine guilloche underprint.

备注

The 5 Yeni Türk Lirası series that preceded this note was introduced in 2005 specifically to drop six zeros from the old lira — one of the more dramatic redenominations in modern Turkish monetary history, following years of inflation that had pushed the old lira into the trillions. By 2009, the "Yeni" (New) prefix was quietly dropped, and denominations were reissued simply as Türk Lirası. This note belongs to that transitional reissue rather than representing any new design or policy shift.

The Banknot Matbaası in Ankara has printed Turkish currency in-house since 1955, an unusual degree of vertical integration for a mid-sized economy.
