Denarni Zavod Slovenije was established by the Slovenian partisan movement in 1944 to create a functioning monetary system within liberated territory — one of the very few resistance administrations in occupied Europe to actually issue printed currency rather than relying on confiscated or foreign notes. The Triglav Tiskarna operated clandestinely in the forests of Goteniški Snežnik, printing under conditions that make the physical consistency of the series genuinely remarkable.
Paper supply was irregular, and some notes in this first issue show slight variations in stock weight as a result.
