Reverse description A four-pointed diamond or lozenge shape radiates from the central round hole, its concave sides framed by four symmetrical sprays of lotus buds and foliage that fill the spaces between the points. The floral sprays, rendered in fine relief, curve gracefully around the central perforation, meeting at each cardinal point of the diamond. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded inner border and a rope or chain-pattern outer border near the rim, lending the reverse a refined, decorative character consistent with early Republican Chinese coinage.
