Issued as part of Bulgaria's long-running Olympic sports commemorative program, this miniature gold piece predates Bulgaria's 2004 Athens campaign but reflects the country's genuine investment in tennis at the time — Magdalena Maleeva was ranked inside the WTA top 10 throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s, and her younger sister Tsvetana Pironkova was just beginning her rise through the juniors.
