| Obverse description | The coat of arms of the People's Republic of Bulgaria occupies the central field, depicting a rampant lion within a shield surmounted by a five-pointed star, flanked by two wheat sheaves bound with a ribbon and incorporating the founding dates 681 and 1944. The engravers' initials ЛМ and СЦ appear below the shield.
