Obverse description The Bulgarian state coat of arms is placed centrally at the upper portion of the note, within a circular vignette, surrounded by an elaborate multicolour guilloche underprint in teal, red and gold with folk-embroidery motifs forming the border. The denomination numeral '5' appears in large outline figures at both left and right margins, with the bank title in Cyrillic script on a central ribbon cartouche and the bearer clause with place and date in a subordinate panel below. Two manuscript signatures appear at the foot, inscribed beneath the titles Управитель (Governor) and Касиер (Cashier).

Reverse description The central vignette presents an intaglio-engraved pastoral scene of two traditional straw beehive skeps (кошери) set in a wooded landscape with trees and sky in the background, rendered in dark brown. Large white numeral '5' counters are set into the green guilloche lacework at left and right, with folk-ornament corner devices echoing the obverse border treatment. The bank title in French and the denomination legend in Cyrillic are inscribed in panels at the top and bottom respectively, with the anti-counterfeiting legal warning and printer's imprint at the foot.
