Obverse description At left, the national coat of arms of Honduras rendered in intaglio within an oval guilloche frame, encircled by the legend referencing independence of 15 September 1821. At centre, an ornate numeral "5" vignette over a multicolour rosette underprint with a rainbow-striped background. At right, an intaglio portrait of General Francisco Morazán in left-facing profile, identified by his name below; three facsimile signatures of the issuing authorities appear across the lower centre.

Reverse description A large panoramic intaglio vignette occupies the centre of the reverse, illustrating the Battle of Trinidad of 11 November 1827, with massed infantry engaged in close combat against a rural background rendered in fine line engraving; the left portion is printed in monochrome black-grey intaglio while the right portion transitions into colour. Ornate guilloche cornerpieces with the numeral "5" frame the composition, and a rainbow-striped underprint runs across the full field. The battle title and denomination are inscribed in a decorative cartouche at lower centre, with the printer's name in small lettering at lower right.
