The Church of Ieud Deal in Maramureș is believed to be the oldest surviving wooden church in Romania, with dendrochronological dating placing its construction as early as 1364. It was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1999 as part of the wooden churches of Maramureș group. Romania's commemorative silver program has consistently targeted regional architectural heritage that receives little attention outside specialist circles — Ieud Deal being a case in point, known to ethnographers and preservationists long before broader recognition arrived.
