Beschrijving keerzijde Central circular field featuring a colourised folk-art depiction of a prancing horse rendered in red, blue, and yellow, decorated with floral motifs in a traditional Chinese paper-cut or New Year painting style. A stylised blue tree with green foliage occupies the left background of the inner field, set against a gold-toned ground. The central coloured disc is surrounded by an ornate silver border decorated with scrolling cloud and dragon motifs in relief, consistent with Chinese decorative art, framing the composition in an elaborate raised border that extends to the coin's rim. No inscriptions appear on the reverse.

Aanvullende informatie

Malawi's 5 Kwacha equestrian series was part of a broader wave of silver-plated base metal issues produced for the collector market in the early 2000s, largely distributed through European numismatic wholesalers rather than through any domestic circulation channel. The Reserve Bank issued these pieces under licensing arrangements that kept production costs low while targeting foreign hobbyists — the coins were never intended to function as currency within Malawi itself.
