Beschrijving voorzijde Right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II wearing a tiara and pearl earring, rendered in a refined portrait style consistent with the Raphael Maklouf third portrait. The legend ELIZABETH II arcs across the upper field. Flanking the portrait along the left rim is the denomination and fineness inscription 1/25 OUNCE AG.999, while MALAWI 5 KWACHA appears along the right rim. The fields are highly polished, characteristic of proof or specimen coinage.

Aanvullende informatie

Malawi's African Wildlife series was issued partly as a revenue-generating measure — collector coins sold to foreign buyers provided hard currency the Reserve Bank could not easily accumulate through trade. The elephant pieces were produced in multiple years and fractional weights, and the 1.24g silver format places this among the smallest denomination strikes in the series, minted to appeal to type collectors building fractional precious metal sets rather than to any domestic circulation need.
