| Obverse lettering | FIMM KRÓNUR ÍSLAND 1992 (Translation: Five Krónur, Iceland) |
| Reverse description | The reverse displays two common dolphins (Delphinus delphis) depicted in dynamic leaping poses, rendered in a clean, naturalistic style characteristic of Scandinavian coinage design. The larger dolphin arches across the upper field while a second dolphin curves below it, their forms filling the central design area. The denomination '5 KR' is inscribed in large, bold numerals and lettering at the centre-lower field, positioned beneath the dolphins. |

Iceland's adoption of the new króna series in 1981 followed a 1980 redenomination that replaced the old króna at 100:1 — one of several monetary resets the country undertook across the twentieth century as chronic inflation repeatedly eroded purchasing power. The copper-nickel 5 krónur ran concurrently for a period with an otherwise identical magnetic variant, the two distinguishable only by magnet test, a distinction that matters for vending machine collectors and series completists alike.
