Additional information

Issued solely to commemorate the millennial anniversary of the Althing, founded in 930 AD and recognized as one of the oldest functioning parliaments in the world, this piece was never intended for circulation. The 1930 celebrations drew international attention at a moment when Iceland was navigating its evolving constitutional relationship with Denmark — full sovereignty had only been granted in 1918, and the jubilee carried unmistakable political weight beyond the historical.

Mintage was extremely limited, produced at the Copenhagen Mint.
