Obverse description The obverse centres on an intaglio vignette of King Gustaf VI Adolf in three-quarter left-facing portrait, set within an oval frame flanked by oak leaf branches, printed over a brown guilloche underprint. SVERIGES RIKSBANK appears in letterpress at the top, the year date is printed in red at upper right, and the denomination numerals occupy ornate cartouches at lower left and lower right. The value legend FEM KRONOR runs along a ribbon beneath the royal portrait, with two facsimile signatures of bank officials across the lower centre.

The medallion carries the Latin motto HINC ROBUR ET SECURITAS along its inner border. The denomination numeral 5 appears in an ornate cartouche at upper right.
