| Opmerkingen |
Kongsberg was home to the Royal Norwegian Mint, and when German forces occupied Norway in April 1940, the municipal authorities issued emergency notes to keep local commerce functioning as the national banking system seized up. This 5 Kroner piece is one of several denominations produced locally — the irony of a mint town resorting to printed municipal scrip was not lost on contemporaries.
Kongsberg Kommune issues from this period are among the more historically loaded of the Norwegian occupation notgeld, given the site's strategic importance to the occupiers.
