5 Kroner Den Danske Brigade

The Danish Brigade notes were issued for use by Danish military personnel stationed in Germany during the postwar occupation period. Denmark contributed forces to the Allied occupation zones, and rather than allowing soldiers to access Reichsmarks or early Deutsche Marks directly — both politically and economically awkward — the Ministry of War issued this scrip for internal canteen and garrison use.

Th. Havning's design work for the series is competent but deliberately restrained, appropriate for a military scrip rather than a prestige issue. Printed at the Nationalbank's Copenhagen facility, the notes were never intended for general public circulation and were subject to strict administrative recall.
