Obverse lettering JOHANN II FÜRST VON LIECHTENSTEIN
(Translation: Johann II Prince of Liechtenstein)
Reverse description Central field features the elaborately quartered arms of the House of Liechtenstein, surmounted by a princely crown with cross finial, the shield surrounded by an ornate collar decorated with floral and geometric motifs. The denomination numeral 5 appears to the left of the arms and the abbreviation KR to the right, both flanked by crossed olive and laurel branches forming a wreath tied at the base. The date 1898 is displayed in the lower field within the wreath, and the word ESSAI appears discreetly to the lower right, identifying the piece as a pattern strike. A beaded inner border frames the entire composition.
