Obverse description Central shield bearing the Nuremberg arms (a divided field featuring a demi-eagle and diagonal bend), flanked by the date 16-22 in the field to either side. The denomination mark 'V K' (5 Kreuzer) appears prominently above the shield. The whole is surrounded by a beaded inner circle with the circular Latin legend reading MON. NOV. ARGENT. REIP. NORIMB., denoting the new silver coinage of the Nuremberg Republic.

Reverse description A crowned double-headed imperial eagle displayed, with wings spread, bearing the Nuremberg municipal shield on its breast. The eagle's heads are crowned beneath a single imperial crown at the top. The surrounding circular Latin legend references the titles of the Holy Roman Emperor Ferdinand II, reading FERDINAND II D. G. ROM. IMP. S. A., enclosed within a beaded border.
