This note was prepared in London during the war years for use after liberation — part of a broader programme coordinated by the Czechoslovak government-in-exile to have a functioning currency ready the moment German occupation ended. De La Rue produced the series under wartime conditions, and the notes were stockpiled for rapid deployment in 1945.

The 5 Korun is among the smaller denominations in the exile-prepared issue, which also included higher values printed by the same firm. Shelf life in circulation was short — the 1945 monetary reform and subsequent political upheavals meant many of these notes were withdrawn within a few years of issue.
