Opmerkingen

The Magyar Postatakarékpénztár was pressed into emergency currency issuance during the chaotic months following the collapse of Austria-Hungary, filling the void left by the absence of a proper central bank. This 5 Korona note was produced in 1919 amid the overlapping crises of the Hungarian Democratic Republic, the brief Hungarian Soviet Republic under Béla Kun, and the Romanian military occupation — meaning notes printed in the same series potentially circulated under three entirely different governments within a single year.

The print run of just over one million was modest given the inflationary pressures of the period, and many were quickly rendered obsolete by successive currency decrees.
