Aanvullende informatie

Kutch maintained the right to strike its own silver coinage well into the 20th century under the paramountcy system — an arrangement that left hundreds of princely states nominally sovereign in domestic matters while Britain controlled foreign policy and defence. The 5 Kori was the workhorse denomination of the Kutch monetary system, and issues under Vijayrajji continued to name the reigning British monarch on the obverse as a condition of that relationship.

Vijayrajji ruled Kutch from 1942 until accession to India in 1948. This issue dates to the year he took the gaddi, making it among the earliest struck in his name.
