Beneath the primary reverse type, the undertype from the host 10 Kopeks coin is partially visible, showing the denomination numeral and original year of the host coin. The overstruck legends and design elements of the earlier 10 Kopeks coinage of Catherine II are discernible in the fields as ghost impressions, a hallmark of the mass recoinage undertaken under Pavel I in 1796. |
