Obverse description Imperial Russian double-headed eagle displayed with wings spread, surmounted by a single Imperial crown topped with a cross, the breast bearing a shield charged with the St. George and dragon device. The eagle's talons clutch a sceptre and orb. The mintmaster's initials НГ appear in the lower field beneath the eagle's tail, flanked by the date 1826, with the Cyrillic legend ГОДА. (meaning 'year') inscribed along the lower rim.

Reverse description Central field bears the numeral '5' above the Cyrillic denomination КОПѢЕКЪ (Kopecks) in two lines, separated from the mint abbreviation С.П.Б. (Sankt Peterburg) below by a horizontal rule. The entire central legend is encircled by a wreath composed of a laurel branch on the left and an oak branch on the right, tied at the base with a ribbon bow, and surmounted at the top by an Imperial crown with cross.
