Description de l’avers	Central vignette of a Bird of Paradise with wings spread, set against a stylized radiating feather backdrop rendered in intaglio, flanked by traditional Melanesian geometric underprint patterns in blue and orange tones. Below the bird, a ceremonial kundu drum is depicted horizontally across the lower register. Two manuscript signatures appear beneath the vignette, attributed to the Governor at left and the Secretary of the Department of Finance and Planning at right, with denomination numerals in the upper corners.

Denomination numeral '5' appears in ornate scroll-work at both left and right edges of the design.
