| Obverse description | Central field features the denomination 五角 (5 Jiao) in bold Chinese characters within a beaded inner circle. Surrounding this central device, a continuous band of Manchu script in twelve segments radiates outward, interspersed between decorative separators. The outer legend, rendered in Chinese characters, reads clockwise and records the issuing authority and reign year: 大清 (Great Qing), 北洋機器局造 (Pei Yang Arsenal Mint), and 光緒二十四年 (24th Year of Guangxu). Four six-pointed stars serve as punctuation marks between sections of the outer legend. The overall design is of a purely epigraphic character, with no pictorial motif, reflecting the unique typology of this Arsenal issue. |
