Kyrylo Kozhumiaka is one of the oldest Slavic dragon-slayer legends, predating Christianized versions by centuries — the hero defeats a serpent holding the Kyivan prince's daughter captive through sheer physical strength, not divine intervention. The tale is rooted in early Rus oral tradition and was documented extensively by folklorist Mykhailo Drahomanov in the 19th century.
