Issued as part of Ukraine's long-running "Fauna of Ukraine" series, this piece commemorates the white stork, a bird deeply embedded in Ukrainian rural tradition as a harbinger of good fortune and a marker of the agricultural calendar. The series itself has been running since the early 2000s and spans dozens of species, with bimetallic and base-metal issues produced in parallel depending on face value and intended distribution.
The 2024 date places production squarely within the third year of full-scale Russian invasion, during which the National Bank of Ukraine continued issuing collector and commemorative coinage as a deliberate assertion of institutional continuity.
