| Reverse description | The reverse presents a finely detailed depiction of a horse's head facing left, occupying the left portion of the field. To the right, against a mirror-polished background, a vertical Cyrillic inscription КІНЬ (The Horse) is engraved. Alongside the inscription, a fragment of an 11th-century slate plate relief is rendered, depicting holy riders trampling a serpent, evoking early Kyivan Rus artistic tradition. The combination of the mirror field and the incuse relief elements creates a striking contrast characteristic of modern Ukrainian commemorative coinage. |

Part of the NBU's long-running "Fauna of Ukraine" series, this issue commemorates the Przewalski's horse — technically extinct in the wild by the late Soviet period, with the last confirmed sighting in Ukraine dating to the 1960s. Reintroduction efforts in the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone, begun in the 1990s, have produced a self-sustaining feral population, lending the subject an unexpectedly contemporary relevance.
