| Obverse description | The hexagonal obverse is divided into two compositional zones. At left, arranged vertically, are the issue year 2018, Ukraine's small state coat of arms (trident), and the bilingual legends UKRAINE and УКРАЇНА; at right, also disposed vertically, are the face-value inscription П'ЯТЬ ГРИВЕНЬ, the fineness and weight designation Ag 999 15,55, and the mint mark of the NBU Banknote Printing and Minting Works. Occupying the upper field is a stylized graphic of the letter 'A' set against a smooth background bearing a tree-of-life motif with apples, symbolizing learning and literacy. Below the letter, against a pad-printed green field of binary-code numerals, appears a locally gilded apple bearing a human fingerprint impression, representing the development of high technology. |
