| Reverse description | The aluminium bronze centre features the coat of arms of Sumy Oblast within a pointed heraldic shield, displaying a princely helmet above a crescent moon and an Orthodox cross on a golden field. The shield is set against a background of traditional Ukrainian embroidery geometric ornamental patterns rendered in relief, filling the entire centre disc. The copper-nickel outer ring carries the inscription СУМСЬКА ОБЛАСТЬ arcing across the upper field and ЗАСНОВАНА У 1939 РОЦІ along the lower arc, recording the year of the oblast's establishment. |
