| Obverse description | The obverse is dominated by a cruciform decorative frame rendered in traditional Ukrainian ornamental style, filled with interlacing floral and scroll motifs in relief against a stippled field. At the apex of the cross-shaped panel, the small Ukrainian state trident (tryzub) appears as the national arms. Within the central lozenge-shaped field, the Cyrillic legend УКРАЇНА is inscribed above the large numeral 5, with ГРИВЕНЬ below, and the date 1998 at the foot of the composition. The entire design is enclosed by a beaded border, lending the obverse an icon-screen aesthetic characteristic of Ukrainian ecclesiastical art. |
