| Obverse description | The obverse features a stylised cross motif occupying the central field, formed by a textured, hatched background evoking Cossack decorative art. At the centre of the cross is an ornate Baroque-style heraldic cartouche bearing a shield with a Cossack sabre and cross, surrounded by elaborate foliate scrollwork and a sheaf of wheat at the apex. The country name УКРАЇНА appears in Cyrillic above the cartouche, with the denomination 5 ГРИВЕНЬ inscribed below. The date 2017 is positioned to the right of the central design, and the mint mark of the Banknote Printing and Minting Works appears to the lower left. |
