Issued to mark the centenary of the National Philharmonic Society of Ukraine, founded in Kyiv in 1913. The institution survived the Soviet absorption of Ukrainian cultural life, reopened under its current name following independence in 1991, and continues to operate from the Kyiv October Palace — a neoclassical building originally constructed in the 1840s as a noble assembly hall.
