Ivan Franko National Academic Drama Theater in Lviv is one of Ukraine's oldest continuously operating theatrical institutions, founded in 1864 during the period of Austrian rule over Galicia. The building itself, completed in 1900, was designed by Viennese architects Fellner and Helmer, the same firm responsible for dozens of opera houses and theaters across the Habsburg Empire. This coin is part of Ukraine's long-running series commemorating architectural and cultural landmarks, which the National Bank has issued intermittently since the late 1990s.
