Obverse description At the upper rim, the Small Coat of Arms of Ukraine is flanked by the semicircular legend НАЦІОНАЛЬНИЙ БАНК УКРАЇНИ (National Bank of Ukraine). The central field features a stylized allegorical composition of two birds perched among flowering branches within a conventionalized nest, the center of which is rendered in the form of a globe, symbolizing the Earth as humanity's shared home. Below the central device, the denomination П'ЯТЬ ГРИВЕНЬ (Five Hryvnias) appears as a semicircular inscription, with the year of issue 2011 situated immediately above it. The overall design is executed in antique finish, imparting a matte, antiqued surface that emphasizes the fine relief detail of the symbolic imagery.

Reverse description The central field depicts a bold, stylized composition of upward-reaching tree branches rendered in the form of open hands, extending toward a radiant sun set against a decorative foliate background with birds and blossoms in low relief. The design is framed by a beaded border, evoking the natural world's vitality and humanity's role in its preservation. The semicircular legend МІЖНАРОДНИЙ РІК ЛІСІВ (International Year of Forests) arcs across the upper field, while the inscription ЗБЕРЕЖЕМО ЗАРАДИ ЖИТТЯ (We Shall Preserve for the Sake of Life) curves along the lower rim. The antique finish highlights the intricate sculptural detail of the foliate and avian motifs throughout the field.
