Part of Ukraine's long-running Chornobyl series, this issue documents ecological recovery in the Exclusion Zone — a genuine and well-documented phenomenon in which enforced human absence since 1986 has allowed large mammal populations, including Eurasian lynx, to reestablish themselves across territory that had been largely cleared of apex predators decades before the disaster. The lynx had been effectively absent from much of northern Ukraine well before the reactor fire.
